A Step Up!

We have made a another step forward in our investment in CNC technology.

Our original foray into CNC machining came back in 2019. This allowed us to accurately replicate our body designs repeatedly with little to no variances. The benefit is a consistent outcome of a specific design and improve turn-around time and reduced cost.

We have since sold this machine and have invested in a new one. The new machine is more expensive, but apart from that it will speed up the process dramatically and provide even greater accuracy and precision over the old machine.

For those who may be interested, the difference between the machines is multiple. The new machine is operated by precision ball-screw on all axis (X, Y, and Z) vs. the old machine which was driven by belts. The new machine is at least 2-3x faster and can accommodate larger work stocks. The work bed of the new machine is aluminum and allows for more stable mounting of the work stock. MDF lined the bed of the old machine which could swell with seasonal humidity changes and affect the depth of cut even by half to a full millimeter. The new machine also weighs a ton - and in the CNC world, weight, stability and sturdiness are important features.

With each advancement in equipment, we advance our capacity and quality. This won’t be the last CNC machine we invest in, but it is a step up to be sure.

Onwards and upwards!

Cheers!
